One month down!
It’s been a month since I left the Bay Area. Yeah, I miss home, my family, my Xavi Boy… but I’ve been having the time of my life here in Souther California.
Classes have been bearable. The workload is manageable. My ONE complaint…. this freaking weather. Here’s the thing— I’m used to having this these things called “seasons” and in SO CAL there’s “hotter than the devil’s balls on a July afternoon” & “the sky is crying but still 104 degrees.” I can't put my confusion into words. All I know is that it's hot as heck and my dorm has crappy AC...
“Complaining” aside, I’ve had some of the best times thus far....
I’ve been to Disneyland about two to three times… a week.

I had a pretty great time with the girls in my hall & my brother hall at the beach.

My neighbor on my floor got baptized which was the coolest/most exciting thing ever!

My Best Friends came to visit. I love them a lot.

Went to a Rascal Flatts concert. My first country concert!
(my father would be so proud)

Weekly meeting with my Alpha group are literally the best.

I got to celebrate my brother’s birthday with him & Brenna at Buffalo Wild Wings (his favorite place in the world) then got to FaceTime the Fam while Josh opens his presents.

Oh... & did I mention I met Tom Hanks when I was walking back to East campus? No picture, because it would've ruined the mood. He's the sweetest person in the world...
I found a church that I REALLY enjoy called Fellowship Monrovia. They hosted a Women's conference last friday that I went to with a few girls from my Alpha group and it was so, so good! I also, just this past Sunday, starting volunteering in Children’s Ministries with the 3 year olds with my RAR (RA’s Roommate). I forgot how much I missed not being involved in a church since being away from Bay Hills, my home church.
I’ve definitely had moments when really miss home. There’s times when I wish my mom was there right away to hear all about my problems, or my dad to be the spiritual/comedic relief when I’m a bit down, or my sister to come home from soccer practice and watch America’s Next Top Model with me… but sometimes a phone call is enough for me. Being away from home makes me love and appreciate them so much. But it really helps that I have found awesome friends, connected with my fellow Alphies, and really get along with my crazy roommate. God really set me up for success by putting incredible people around me.
I have some fun events coming up in the next few weeks, two of which involve Disney!
Exciting things are happening!
